Meet me on the beach!
Miami Beach, that is.
I’m happy to report that our annual Mortgage Technology Conference is returning to Collins Avenue next week after a few years on the road. Some of our most memorable MTCs have been in Miami Beach. Must be the sound of the water on the sand—great for focusing!
This is our 14th MTC and we’ve done a total of more than 20 mortgage technology conferences, a sign of our leadership in this area. This year’s event is shaping up to exceed expectations, so come on down!
Technology is one of the few sectors of the mortgage business to look good over the past five years or so. Vendors have responded with lightning speed to the many shifts in the sector, targeting loan modifications, short sales, risk management—anything lenders might benefit from.
In an era of increasing mortgage regulation, vendors can play an essential role in keeping lenders safe from the mortgage cops. So for instance at MTC there will be an address from a top officer at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and a workshop on the technology aspects of CFPB’s regulations.
In addition to relying on their tech vendors, it pays mortgage executives to become tech-savvy themselves. A session led by industry consultant Christine Clifford is set to look into what lenders should be learning.
MTC will pay close attention to the compliance question by having a compliance faceoff session. This panel will be led by veteran e-mortgage guru Tim Anderson.
One track of the meeting will look at quality control, risk management and how technology can assist in the servicing-retained option.
A second track will focus on going paperless, e-signatures and a showcase of some of the best technology solutions.
Another important one will be on mobile originators through an increasing blitz of new devices.
The show features a top-rate faculty. Besides the two already mentioned there will be Wil Armstrong, CEO of Blueberry Systems; Jordan Brown, CEO, Marketwise Advisors; Brian Fitzpatrick, CEO, Aklero Risk Analytics; Ann Fulmer, VP, Interthinx; Garth Graham, marketing strategist, Stratmor; Rick Grant, principal, RGA; Tom Healy, CEO, Level1Analytics; and Gabe Minton, SVP, ServiceLink, among others. Come and schmooze with old and new friends and learn a thing or two about the ever-changing world of mortgage technology.
