New Domain Name Suffixes for the Mortgage Industry

Expect the world of “domain name suffixes” like .com, .net, .org, and .biz to grow by about 1,400 new ones in 2014. One of the initiatives is to add suffixes of different countries as they open up internet access to their citizens. Another is to add domain names that are relevant to different industries.

So, that’s where .mortgage and others like it will come into being this year!  First, here’s a link to an article from ICANN (Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers), and secondly, read the list of proposed suffixes for the real estate and mortgage industry.

Next, here’s a list of proposed suffixes to watch out for and consider using for company websites and email addresses.

If you have a webmaster or an IT person, ask them to be on the lookout for you and let you know when those domain suffixes become available.

But, you may want to pre-plan to make sure it would make sense for you to change the suffix, or add an additional suffix and update your email address suffix to more accurately let everyone know what you do for a living.
