This is my last column of the year, and the question I am asking myself at this time is what can I do to make 2013 a better year than this past one?
For me this past year was difficult. I was hospitalized for two weeks starting Memorial Day weekend. And Hurricane Sandy still is a disruptive force in my life.
But the most devastating news was that one of my best friends’ passed away in June. And as sick as he was, he made the effort to call me while I was in the hospital.
And he remained as upbeat as ever, saying that we would take in a Mets game later that summer when we both were doing better. In speaking with his brother-in-law after he passed away, I was told my friend had a rather positive attitude right until the end.
That might be our lesson today; with all the problems we have in our lives and our businesses, we need to keep focused on the positive and the future.
