Mortgage Stocks End Year with Mixed Results

The final stock trading day of 2013 saw the Dow Jones Industrial Average set another new record. The mortgage stocks tracked by National Mortgage News had a more mixed outcome.

Ellie Mae closed near 4% lower on Tuesday, and it was the biggest percentage loser in the Mortgage Industry Equity Composite. Astoria Financial was down 1.2% and CoreLogic was down 1.1%. All told, seven of the 17 MIEC members closed lower than they did on Monday.

Home Loan Servicing Solutions closed nearly 2% higher. MGIC Investment Corp. closed up 1.1%, while Redwood Trust and KB Home both closed 0.8% higher.

The Dow closed 72 points higher.
