CFPB Searching for a New Deputy Director

The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau appointed Steve Antonakes to serve as the acting deputy director to replace Raj Date.

Thursday is Date’s last day after working at the CFPB for more than two years and bringing real Wall Street experience to the new consumer bureau.

“Although we will miss Raj, he has helped to build a strong, talented team and I am pleased that Steve will be taking on the role of acting deputy director,” said CFPB director Richard Cordray.

Antonakes was the bank commissioner for Massachusetts before he joined the CFPB in November 2010 to build up the bureau’s large bank supervision staff.

He currently is the associate director for supervision, enforcement and fair lending, a role he will continue to fill as the CFPB searches for a replacement for Date.
