CoreLogic: $87 Billion in Mid-Atlantic Properties at Risk

CoreLogic estimates that nearly 284,000 Mid-Atlantic homes valued at roughly $87 billion are at risk of property damage from Hurricane Sandy based on its projected path.

The company noted that its analysis measures potential damage from storm surge flooding -- but not wind and rain associated with hurricanes.

“More than 238,000 total properties valued at nearly $75 billion stand at risk in eight major metro areas from Virginia to New England,” the company said.

According to CoreLogic’s breakdown, at least 81,000 properties valued at $35.1 billion are at risk in New York state. In New Jersey more than 75,000 properties valued at roughly $22.6 billion are in danger.

Other estimates include in excess of 66,000 properties in Virginia (value: $11.3 billion), more than 30,000 properties in Maryland (almost $9 billion), and just under 22,000 properties in Massachusetts (over $7.7 billion).
