Donna DeMaio Slated for CEO Post at United Guaranty

Donna DeMaio, chief operating officer at United Guaranty Corp., will become CEO of the top-ranked mortgage insurer after Kim Garland moves up to chief underwriting officer for global consumer insurance at parent company American International Group.

DeMaio joined UG in May as COO. She succeeded Garland as chief operating officer. Prior to that DeMaio was president and CEO of MetLife Bank starting in 2005 until its sale to General Electric in December 2011.

Garland’s tenure in the president and CEO jobs at UGC was relatively brief. He was promoted from COO in February after then president and CEO Eric Martinez was named EVP of global claims, operations and systems at another AIG unit, Chartis.

In other people notes, former Freddie Mac CEO David Moffett has joined Genworth Financial’s board as an independent director. He left Freddie Mac in March 2009 after taking the top job there in September 2008.
