LPS: January House Prices Up 6.7% from Year Ago

House prices rose 0.3% in January from the prior month, according to Lender Processing Services.

LPS tracks house prices in 15,500 zip codes and its HPI is up 6.7% from   January 2012.

Georgia registered a 1.6% month-over-month gain – the largest in January.  While prices in Connecticut fell 0.9% -- the biggest drop in January.  

Prices in Arizona are up 16.8% year-over-year and prices in Phoenix are up 20.6%.   Prices in Las Vegas are close behind with a 19% gain, LPS said.
