Wells Fargo Partners With Mayors
A new alliance between the U.S. Conference of Mayors and Wells Fargo Home Mortgage, designed to address foreclosure prevention, property disposition, homeownership promotion and community development over a three-year period, will combine strategies developed by Wells Fargo and outreach initiatives conducted by the mayors and their constituents.
Mary Coffin, EVP for servicing, said Wells Fargo plans to contribute to the private-public sector partnership “proven technical capabilities and educational materials.”
Combined with the grassroots access to communities and municipalities provided by the conference, Wells Fargo’s Leading the Way Home initiative will help with the foreclosure prevention education program designed to increase public understanding of the current housing situation and ways how to build stronger communities in the future.
The conference represents the nation’s 1,210 cities with populations of 30,000 or more. During the crisis it has actively assisted communities distressed by foreclosures addressing, among other issues, challenges in the disposition of vacant properties through strategic partnerships that aim to prevent blight in neighborhoods and foster economic development.
To better assist local housing markets the alliance plans to educate and connect mayors to ideas, action plans and housing expertise through a variety of outreach initiatives including three regional mayoral forums. During each year of the partnership mayors will meet face-to-face to exchange information and learn from housing experts.
