Santa Ana-First American Title Insurance Co. said that its Lenders Advantage Division has named Thomas L. Schlesinger senior vice president, director of national settlement services operations.

This role is in addition to his position as vice president for First American Title Insurance Co.

An industry veteran with 30 years of title industry experience, Mr. Schlesinger joined First American in 1997 as a consultant in the Oakland, Calif., office of First American Title Guaranty Co.

Simi Valley-Countrywide Home Loans, Portfolio Services Group has promoted Brennan Walters to vice president, business development.

Previously holding the position of assistant vice president, business development, for the Portfolio Services Group, Mr. Walters will continue to develop subservicing partnership opportunities within the residential mortgage industry.

He joined Countrywide in July 2003, and he has been a member of the Portfolio Services Group since April 2004.


Washington-The Mortgage Bankers Association elected Robert E. Story Jr., president of Seattle Financial Group, Seattle, as chairman of its Residential Board of Governors and Robert H. Griffith, senior vice president at Bank of America, Charlotte, N.C., as vice chairman of RESBOG.

RESBOG is the governing body for MBA's residential/single-family members, responsible for identifying legislative and regulatory policies and positions on single-family residential lending, and for making recommendations for policies and initiatives to MBA's board of directors.

Messrs. Story and Griffith presently sit on MBA's board of directors. Both have been active Mortgage Bankers Association members and served on several committees.

Mr. Story is a 2007 vice chair of MORPAC, MBA's political action committee, and he was also the first chair of the Mortgage Action Alliance, the grassroots lobbying organization of MBA.

Washington-The Office of Federal Housing Enterprise Oversight has selected Edward J. DeMarco as deputy director and chief operating officer of OFHEO. Mr. DeMarco, currently assistant deputy commissioner for policy at the Social Security Administration, will join OFHEO Oct. 30.

Prior to joining SSA in 2003, he served as director of the Office of Financial Institutions Policy at the Department of the Treasury where he oversaw analyses of public policy issues involving the GSEs and other financial institutions.

Prior to his work at Treasury, he conducted economic and financial analyses of the GSEs and other financial institutions at the General Accounting Office.


Baltimore-EAG Consultants LLC said that Barbara Steele has joined the firm as a senior consultant and national account executive.

Ms. Steele will lead EAG's credit risk management and outsourcing delivery assurance practice offerings, and she will also assist in the firm's marketing support offerings for technology providers and business process outsourcers.

Ms. Steele has over 11 years experience in the mortgage servicing industry managing various departments within several nonprime mortgage companies in Southern California.


Greensboro-Mike Dolianitis and Brian Von Bergen have been named regional sales managers at MortgageSimple for its Mid-Atlantic and Southeast wholesale regions.

Mr. Dolianitis will cover Kentucky, Maryland, Tennessee, Virginia and the triad area of North Carolina.

Mr. Von Bergen will be responsible for the western and coastal areas of North Carolina, along with Alabama, North Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi and South Carolina.

They most recently served as area sales managers at IndyMac Bank. Previously, Mr. Dolianitis was a regional sales manager at Aegis Funding. Mr. Von Bergen has worked as a sales manager for First Union Home Equity Bank and as president of Union Mortgage Group.

Greensboro-Elliott & Co. Appraisers has appointed Carlyle Holt as client services director.

He previously was vice president at Charles Holt & Associates, a mortgage lending company based in Greensboro.

Mr. Holt will supervise Elliott's client services department, which incorporates all aspects of its service to clients, including ordering, use of appraisers and shipping of appraisals.


Philadelphia-Fidelity National Title Insurance Co. appointed Juliann Hickey as vice president and national title service commercial underwriter in the company's Philadelphia branch.

In her new position, Ms. Hickey is responsible for commercial title underwriting and closings throughout Pennsylvania and the nation.

She previously worked as an underwriter in both Florida and Pennsylvania with Land-America Financial Group. Prior to that, she worked as an attorney with the law firm of Rossway Moore and Taylor in Vero Beach, Fla.


Houston-Encomia has named Paula Bowers business development consultant.

Ms. Bowers brings more than 16 years of experience in sales, management and customer relationship development to Encomia.

Her industry experience includes more than nine years at Amherst, N.Y.-based MBMS Inc., where she served as customer relationship manager and senior applications specialist.

Dallas-Financial Industry Computer Systems Inc. has promoted current vice president of customer service, Susan Graham, to vice president of operations.

Ms. Graham joined FICS in 1999, and is responsible for the management of the call center, customer training, consulting, and quality control for FICS' origination and servicing solutions.

Prior to joining FICS, she served as first vice president of residential and commercial loan servicing and origination for San Antonio Federal Credit Union.


Toronto-The PMI Group Inc. appointed Janet C. Martin as managing director for PMI Mortgage Insurance Co. Canada.

Ms. Martin has more than 20 years experience in business and financial services. She was most recently chief executive officer of Toronto-based Dexit Inc., which facilitates electronic prepaid payment services for consumers.
