Walnut Creek-The PMI Group Inc. has appointed Joan Tuan as assistant vice president and assistant corporate controller.

In her position, Ms. Tuan is responsible for accounting and financial reporting for PMI, specifically consolidation of financial information from PMI's various business segments, GAAP and SEC reporting.

Ms. Tuan was previously director of International Accounting, and prior to that assistant controller at the San Francisco software company Macromedia Inc. She has also worked at PolyServe Inc., FibroGen Inc. and Ernst & Young.


Washington-NCB FSB, a subsidiary of National Cooperative Bank, has promoted Gloria D. Exum to vice president of real estate and commercial loan closings division at the bank's Washington headquarters.

Previously, Ms. Exum served as assistant vice president and construction manager for the real estate division at NCB

She has been with the bank since March 2000.

Washington-The Mortgage Bankers Association has appointed Jennifer G. Williams as director of capital markets and financial disclosure within MBA's commercial/multifamily division.

Ms. Williams joins MBA from the Securities and Exchange Commission, division of corporate finance, where she was special counsel, structured finance.

Prior to this position, she also worked as an attorney-advisor in the SEC's office of rulemaking as well as for the SEC's financial services and structured finance groups.

Washington-Joseph T. Lynyak III has become a partner with Buckley Kolar LLP.

Mr. Lynyak's practice focuses on bank regulatory compliance, commercial and consumer lending, examinations and enforcement and general corporate matters.

Prior to joining Buckley Kolar, he was a partner in the Washington, D.C., and California offices of Reed Smith LLP.

Washington-MBA's vice president of industry technology, Gabe Minton, has been elected as secretary to the Electronic Authentication Partnership's board of directors.

Since beginning his term earlier last year as a member of the EAP board, Mr. Minton was elected as secretary during a recent board meeting in San Francisco. He began serving his one-year term on April 11.

The Electronic Authentication Partnership is the multi-industry partnership working on the vital task of enabling interoperability among government and commercial electronic authentication systems.

Washington-NCB FSB, a subsidiary of National Cooperative Bank, has appointed Patricia Kurimay as senior credit analyst for the bank's Community Association Lending team at its Washington headquarters.

In this capacity, Ms. Kurimay will be responsible for underwriting community association and commercial real estate transactions and analyzing potential new business for portfolio and secondary market transactions.

Prior to her role with NCB's CAL team, Ms. Kurimay worked at Merrill Lynch where she served as a financial management clerk.


Des Moines-Wells Fargo & Co. has named John Gibbons to the new position of head of capital markets - including all loan sale, securitization and hedging activities - for its residential real estate-secured lending businesses in its home and consumer finance group.

He brings to Wells Fargo more than 20 years of mortgage industry experience.

Before joining Wells Fargo, Mr. Gibbons served as senior consultant with Hollister LLC and vice chairman and strategist with Overture Corp.


New York-Hudson Realty Capital LLC has appointed Jason Parker as an associate. In this capacity, he will focus on the origination of both debt and equity transactions nationwide.

Mr. Parker joins HRC from Bear Stearns, where he was an analyst in the CMBS division.

Previously, he served as the assistant vice president of the commercial real estate division of Emigrant Savings Bank of New York and also worked as an intern in the investment banking division of Lehman Brothers.


Philadelphia-Radian Guaranty Inc. said that Russell E. Johnson has joined the company as senior vice president, loss management.

Mr. Johnson brings more than 14 years of financial services experience to Radian, having most recently served as senior vice president and director of servicing operations for American Residential Equities Inc.

Prior to that, he was the vice president and national servicing manager at Washington Mutual Bank and also spent nine years at Wells Fargo.


East Greenwich-Bernard J. LoVerde Jr. has been named executive vice president at Liberty Title & Escrow Co. where he will focus on enhancing the company's default/REO closing market share and operations nationwide.

Mr. LoVerde joined Liberty Title & Escrow Co. from First American Title Insurance Co. of New York, and its wholly owned Public Abstract Corp. subsidiary, where he served as the director of the default services division.

Additionally, he also served as vice president of business development and strategic planning for Public Abstract Corp. and served in a similar role at First American's Customized Lenders Services Inc. affiliate.


Irving-EMC Mortgage Corp. has promoted Jeff Tschirhart from staff attorney to vice president and assistant general counsel in the legal department.

Mr. Tschirhart was previously with Barnett Banks Inc. in Jacksonville, Fla., and BancPLUS Mortgage Corp. in San Antonio.

As associate counsel and assistant vice president for both companies, he provided legal counsel for loan servicing and loan origination, in addition to managing litigation and handling contract review and administration.

Irving-EMC Mortgage Corp. has promoted Ty Fawley from assistant manager to vice president of vendor management.

Mr. Fawley began his career with EMC in March 1999 as a tax supervisor in the escrow department.

Prior to joining EMC, he was an assistant vice president for Lomas USA, a national account representative for First American Mortgage and a mortgage supervisor in the tax department of Countrywide Mortgage.


McLean-Gareth Davies has been named senior vice president for enterprise operational risk at Freddie Mac.

Mr. Davies was most recently vice president and chief risk officer for GE Asset Management, and has spent nearly 20 years with General Electric.

At GE Asset Management, he developed a risk framework and an operational risk structure, as well as an in-house system to automate operational risk reporting.
