First American Earns ISO 9001:2000 Certification

First American Tax Service has achieved ISO 9001:2000 certification from the International Organization for Standards.

The certification was awarded following an audit of the company's quality system by BSI, a quality management systems registrar.

First American said the audit confirms that First American Real Estate Tax Service's systems are compliant with applicable international standards for quality systems.

Lucy Przybyla, president of First American's escrow servicing products division, said the certification reflects the company's commitment to checks and balances to ensure the quality and accuracy of the company's products and services.

"The ISO 9001:2000 audit process took into account all facets of our business, from internal practices to quality of service to our interaction with the industry at all levels. This certification is absolute confirmation of First American's dedication to quality, to business excellence and to our customers," she said.

First American Real Estate Tax Service currently services 27 million residential loans, the company said. It becomes the second unit within First American Mortgage Information and Services Group to achieve ISO 9001:2000 certification.

To achieve certification from the ISO, companies must implement a quality management system embracing activities from staff training to product design and service delivery.
