San Mateo-Stewart Title of California, a wholly owned subsidiary of Stewart Information Services Corp., hired Jeff Sickler as manager for Stewart's North Bay region will be responsible for overseeing and developing operations in San Mateo, San Francisco and Sonoma counties.

Mr. Sickler brings to Stewart more than 10 years of experience in the title industry.

After spending almost 10 years as a certified public accountant, he began his title insurance career as the chief financial officer of California Land Title of Marin, now an affiliate of Stewart Title Co.

Santa Clara-Tavant Technologies appointed Hassan Rashid as head, mortgage and financial services.

Mr. Rashid brings over 20 years of mortgage and real estate industry leadership experience and joins Tavant from Dorado Corp. where he was the senior vice president, channel sales and business development.

Prior to that he was the senior director, transaction services at Homestore Inc. and also held senior level positions at Freddie Mac.

Newport Beach-Icon Residential Capital LLC said that Eirann Mittelsteadt has been named vice president of secondary marketing.

Ms. Mittelsteadt was previously employed by BNC Mortgage Inc., a Lehman Brothers company in Irvine, Calif., as secondary marketing transaction manager.

Santa Ana-The First American Corp. said that Gary L. Kermott will transition from his current role as president of First American Title Insurance Co. to the position of vice chairman of First American Title Insurance Co.

Mr. Kermott will assist in overseeing First American's title insurance segment until a new president of the title company is appointed.

He was appointed president of First American Title Insurance Co. in January 1999.

Santa Ana-The First American Corp. has appointed Kathleen M. Collins to the newly created position of senior vice president, director of corporate compliance.

Ms. Collins will have compliance oversight covering the corporation's operational, human resources and information security programs, and will retain her positions as special counsel and assistant secretary for the corporation.

Walnut Creek-PMI Guaranty Co. appointed Bonita Z. Dorland as senior vice president and chief credit officer.

Ms. Dorland has more than 25 years experience in risk management and financial services. She was most recently chief underwriting officer and executive vice president with Radian Asset Assurance Inc.

Prior to that she was chief credit officer for Banque National de Paris Capital Markets LLC and also served in key roles at Financial Guaranty Insurance Co. and Merrill Lynch.


Rocky Hill-Robert Hulnick was promoted to the position of senior vice president and general manager of field services for Fiserv Lending Solutions' appraisal and Realtor-based valuation operations.

Mr. Hulnick joined Fiserv as senior vice president, strategic projects. He brings over 30 years of experience in real estate, vendor management, title operations, law and valuation services to the position.

Most recently he was a vice president/director of valuation at GMAC HomeConnects.


Washington-Fannie Mae appointed Rahul Merchant as executive vice president and chief information officer. Mr. Merchant joins Fannie Mae from Merrill Lynch, where he served as head of global business technology.

As CIO, Mr. Merchant will oversee all of the company's technology efforts and manage the employees in the CIO function, which includes more than a third of the company's workforce.

Prior to his work at Merrill Lynch, he was executive vice president at Dresdner, Kleinwort and Benson. He also previously served as senior vice president at Sanwa Financial Products and first vice president at Lehman Brothers Inc.


New York-American Mortgage Acceptance Co. said that Alan Hirmes will step down as chief financial officer and be replaced by Robert Levy.

Mr. Levy is also replacing Mr. Hirmes as CFO of CharterMac, American Mortgage's external advisor.

Mr. Hirmes has decided to scale back his responsibilities within CharterMac, but will continue as the company's chief operating officer. He will also remain on American Mortgage's board of trustees.

Mr. Levy has served as director of capital markets at CharterMac since 2001.


Greensboro-Elliott & Co. Appraisers appointed Martitia Mortimer to the position of executive vice president.

In her new position, she will focus primarily on quality control and marketing.

Ms. Mortimer has been associated with Elliott since 1984, when she joined the company as an appraiser. She became manager of the company's Boone, N.C., office in 1986 and managing partner of that office the following year.

Charlotte-Wachovia Securities said that Stephen Hentschel has joined the firm as a managing director in the real estate investment banking group.

Mr. Hentschel comes to Wachovia Securities after 10 years at Lehman Brothers, where he was a managing director in the global real estate group.

At Lehman, he managed investment banking relationships with public and private real estate firms in the office, multifamily, retail, manufactured home and mortgage REIT sectors, and prior to Lehman Brothers worked from 1990 to 1996 for Prudential Securities.

Winston-Salem-Triad Guaranty Inc. said that its subsidiary, Triad Guaranty Insurance Corp., has hired Claudia E. Wood as vice president, risk modeling and research.

Ms. Wood will be responsible for strengthening Triad's mortgage analytics, enhancing existing mortgage insurance products and designing new vehicles for structured transactions.

She was previously with Freddie Mac, where she served as principal economist and most recently as senior director, risk analysis, and has held positions with Citibank Credit Card Services Inc., Fannie Mae, and Cornell University Department of Consumer Economics and Housing.


Lewisville-Ralene Ruyle, chairman and CEO of EMC Mortgage Corp. and senior managing director of Bear Stearns, said she will transition out of a day-to-day role in the company and will officially retire from the organization at the end of May 2007.

Ms. Ruyle was hired by Bear Stearns in 1987 and started EMC Mortgage Corp. in 1990 working from a small office in Irving, Texas, with a staff of three employees.

In 2002, she was named president and CEO of EMC Mortgage Corp.

Horseshoe Bay-Mortgage Banking Services Direct has named Kenney Hayes as the company's new chief operating officer.

Ms. Hayes, who has 37 years of mortgage industry background and more than 20 years of senior management experience with large financial institutions, oversees the alignment of MBSD's strategy, technology and people.

Prior to MBSD, she developed and implemented joint venture relationships that combined mortgage operations with real estate companies in Oregon, Idaho and Washington.


Milwaukee-Metavante Corp., the banking and payments technology subsidiary of Marshall & Ilsley Corp., appointed Brian Blair senior vice president of sales for its lending solutions business unit.
