Santa Ana-The First American Corp. has named George Grupp chief financial officer of the company's specialty insurance segment.

In his new role, he will be responsible for overseeing the segment's financial reporting, financial compliance and budgeting, as well as interfacing with independent auditors and rating agencies.

An industry veteran with more than 30 years of experience, Mr. Grupp began his career with Ernst & Young in Los Angeles, where he conducted the audits of several major insurance companies.


Denver-Dividend Capital Investments, the real estate securities investment advisor of Dividend Capital Group, appointed Dave Agostine as president of the company.

Mr. Agostine has over 20 years experience in the financial services industry.

Prior to joining Dividend Capital Investments, he was senior vice president and managing director of Janus Capital Institutional where he co-founded and developed the company's financial services group.


Washington-The Mortgage Bankers Association promoted David Krause to director, XML architecture and compliance; John Mechem to director, public affairs; and Brook Ostrander to director, classroom programs.

Mr. Krause, previously senior project manager, industry technology, will provide technology leadership and architectural support to MBA members and MISMO subscribers in XML, Internet and e-mortgage technology standards, electronic commerce, information security and process automation.

Mr. Mechem, previously manager, public affairs, will be responsible for developing strategy and messages for industry issues such as the Home Mortgage Disclosure Act, FHA reform, mortgage fraud against lenders, predatory lending and Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac oversight, licensing and foreclosure surveys as well as other industry issues.

Prior to joining MBA, he served as the director of communications for the American Forest & Paper Association.

Ms. Ostrander, previously manager, classroom programs, will be responsible for managing all of the instructor-led and live events delivered directly by CampusMBA or in partnership with third parties.

Prior to her five-year tenure with MBA, she worked as a rate analyst for ChannelPoint.


St. Louis-Lenders One has appointed Ann Eberlin as its new marketing specialist.

Ms. Eberlin will develop and manage all aspects of Lenders One's marketing program, including public relations, advertising and Web enhancements.

Prior to joining Lenders One, she was marketing coordinator for Ungerboeck Systems International, an event software company in O'Fallon, Mo., where she managed the marketing and advertising campaigns and served as a liaison to industry associations.

Uniondale-Arbor Commercial Mortgage has appointed Sheree D. Reinbach to associate general counsel.

Ms. Reinbach will serve as in-house counsel with respect to Arbor's commercial loan portfolio, which include loans that are originated by Arbor under a Fannie Mae multifamily loan program.

Prior to joining Arbor, she was an associate at the law firm of Arent Fox LLP.


New York-Assurant Inc. said that Gene Mergelmeyer will succeed John B. Owen as president, Assurant Specialty Property. He will also be appointed executive vice president, Assurant Inc.

Mr. Mergelmeyer currently serves as executive vice president, Assurant Specialty Property and runs the creditor-placed homeowners business and other related lines.

He was named executive vice president, Assurant Specialty Property in 2006, and prior to joining Assurant was executive vice president and chief financial officer of Insureco Inc., which was acquired by Assurant in 1997.


Cary-Crescent State Bank said that Jere N. York has joined the bank as loan compliance review analyst.

Prior to joining Crescent State Bank, Mr. York gained 37 years of banking experience with executive level positions at both regional and national banks.

He has held positions for a number of industry-based organizations including the International Credit Association, the Florida Mortgage Brokers Association and the North Florida Board of Realtors Lawyer Support Committee.


Dallas-First American Default Information Services said that Joshua B. Dougan has been named vice president of its new consulting group.

In this new role, Mr. Dougan will be responsible for assisting with client service and support, implementing strategic plans for continued growth and overseeing the consulting group's internal operations.

He most recently served as a manager of business analysis for Standard & Poor's, and prior to S&P held positions as project manager and senior analyst during his more than 10 years of experience in the loan servicing industry.

Lewisville-Jeff Wise has joined the staff of EMC Residential Mortgage Corp. as senior vice president of seller approval.

Prior to joining EMC Residential Mortgage Corp., Mr. Wise served as senior vice president of counterparty credit risk management at Countrywide Securities Corp.

Previously, he was vice president of credit risk in the correspondent lending group at Wells Fargo Home Mortgage, manager of the credit management group/finance division at Fannie Mae, and senior financial analyst in single-family risk management at Freddie Mac.
