Taking Control Theme of Dallas Show

With loan delinquencies not expected to abate any time soon, the servicing sector has been in the cross hairs of the media, legislators and regulators.

Much is being made about foreclosure prevention and loan modification efforts and how successful they truly are.

"Under Siege: Taking Control of Mortgage Servicing" is the theme for the fourth annual SourceMedia Mortgage Servicing Conference being held in Dallas on April 8 and 9 at the Westin Galleria Hotel.

Rebecca Mairone, the head of servicing at Bank of America, will give the opening keynote address on April 8.

Her speech will be followed by an update from Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac and the final panel of the day will tackle "The Future of Servicing."

Speaking at the session are John Vella, executive vice president GMAC/Rescap, and Robert Appel, executive president, Nationstar.

When the conference resumes on the morning of April 9, Ronald Faris, the president of Ocwen Financial Corp., will be the keynote presenter.

He will be followed by a panel session called "How to Stop the Bleeding (or What to Do About Defaults)." A possible answer to that question could be in the title of the next session, "Short Sales to the Rescue."

J.D. Powers and Associates is well known for its customer service surveys and rankings.

The company's executive director, financial services, Rockwell F. Clancy II, will discuss "Best Practices in Mortgage Servicing that Lead to Higher Retention & Loyalty." The final session in the morning will be an economic update given by Dana Johnson, senior vice president and chief economist at Comerica.

After lunch, Marc Helm, chief executive of RMS, is the moderator of the special servicer panel. This will be followed by "REO Pitfalls: The Art of Creating Income while Decreasing Costs."
