Irvine-Lynn Halstead has been named senior vice president of national lending and acquisitions for Option One Mortgage Corp. In this newly created position, she oversees a business channel that forms partnerships with financial institutions, including national and regional banks, to allow them to offer nonprime loans. She will also continue to oversee Option One's bulk acquisition channel, which specializes in the purchase of performing nonprime loan pools on a servicing-released basis.
Ms. Halstead came to Option One in 2001 from The Mortgage Conduit in Corona, Calif., where she served as senior vice president and chief production officer.
Santa Ana-SAFECO Financial Institution Solutions has chosen Jody A. Gunderson to lead and manage the company's national relationship management team.
Named to the position of senior vice president of relation management, Ms. Gunderson is responsible for developing new business and maintaining executive relationships with current and prospective clients in the mortgage lending industry. She joined SAFECO FIS in 2001, coming from ACE USA FIS. Prior to that, she had been at Bank of America.
Santa Barbara-Fidelity National Information Solutions Inc. announced the appointment of Richard A. Mendenhall to its board of directors. Mr. Mendenhall is a Realtor from Columbia, Mo. and served as the 2001 president for the National Association of Realtors.
He is the owner of RE/MAX Boone Realty, Columbia, and co-owner of RE/MAX, Jefferson City, Mo. Additionally, he is the chair of the Columbia Housing Authority, homeownership task force.

Washington-The Mortgage Bankers Association of America has appointed Leanne Tobias as a director in the association's Commercial/ Multifamily division. In addition to serving as the key staff representative and spokesperson for the Capital Markets, International and Portfolio Investors committees, Ms. Tobias will coordinate the development and implementation of association policies and positions for industry issues related to the respective committees.
Ms. Tobias joins MBA from the Multi-Employer Property Trust, a $3.2 billion commercial real estate fund, where she managed its Investment Committee.
Clearwater-Market Street Mortgage announced that Steven Chiou has joined the company as executive vice president and head of secondary marketing.
Prior to joining Market Street, Mr. Chiou served as executive vice president, capital markets for CTX Mortgage Co. in Dallas overseeing the daily operation in secondary marketing. He has also worked for Fannie Mae in Dallas in several key management positions.
Ann Arbor-ABN AMRO Mortgage Group Inc. recently hired Michael Whiting as first vice president, manager, escrow administration.
In his new position, Mr. Whiting is charged with overseeing the day-to-day operations of AAMG's escrow administration department. Mr. Whiting brings more than 28 years of financial and mortgage services experience to AAMG. Prior to this new position, he was retail lending national operations manager for Citicorp Mortgage Inc. in St. Louis.
Paramus-Homestar Mortgage Services named Frank Plenskofski as the company's senior vice president, treasurer. Mr. Plenskofski has 19 years of experience in the accounting and mortgage industries and will be responsible for the accounting, finance and capital market operations of Homestar's retail and wholesale markets.
Most recently, he served as the executive vice president, chief financial officer for HomeBanc Mortgage Inc. in Atlanta. His previous experience includes serving as senior vice president, chief financial officer for Quicken Loans in Livonia, Mich.
Santa Fe-Thornburg Mortgage Inc. announced that the board of directors promoted Maxine Swisa to senior vice president, chief information officer, and Jane Starrett to vice president.
Ms. Swisa was also appointed a managing director of Thornburg Mortgage Advisory Corp., the manager responsible for the day-to-day operations of Thornburg Mortgage.
Ms. Swisa joined Thornburg Mortgage in 2000 and oversees all technology needs for the company including the company's online mortgage lending program. She is also involved with all Internet-related marketing initiatives.
Ms. Starrett was hired as controller for the company in 2002 and is responsible for the preparation and filing of the financial statements with the SEC.
Uniondale-Arbor Commercial Mortgage LLC announced the appointment of Wendy Stamnas as senior FHA underwriter. Ms. Stamnas will be located in Arbor's Boston office.
Most recently, Ms. Stamnas was the FHA Chief Underwriter at Rockport Mortgage where she underwrote the first Multifamily Accelerated Processing loans in several New England states.
Prior to Rockport Mortgage, she was regional economist and special workout assistance team project manager with the Department of Housing and Urban Development in Boston and was a project manager with the Boston Redevelopment Authority.
