Irvine-Marc A. Farfel has joined Option One Mortgage Corp., a subsidiary of H&R Block, as vice president and director of real estate. In this role, he will be a member of the servicing unit's senior management team, with responsibility for Option One's disposition of owned real estate.
Since 1993, Mr. Farfel had served in a variety of owned real estate positions at Countrywide Home Loans in Simi Valley, Calif. Most recently, he was first vice president and director of national sales.

Washington-The Department of Housing and Urban Development announced Stillman D. Knight Jr. as HUD's new deputy assistant secretary for multifamily in the office of Federal Housing Administration.
Mr. Knight, formerly chairman of the board and chief executive officer of The Knight Co., has been recognized as the National Council of Multi Housing Industry's Builder-Developer of the Year in 1986 and served as chairman of this
organization in 1989.
Northbrook-Hilco Trading Co. Inc., announced the appointment of Fred C. Caruso to the newly created position of
president of Hilco Appraisal Services LLC. Mr. Caruso currently serves as president of Hilco Industrial LLC. He will continue in that role.
Mr. Caruso joined Hilco at the beginning of 2003, bringing extensive experience in the turnaround and reorganization business.
He had spent 20 years with Developmental Specialists Inc., a nationally known crisis management and consulting firm.
New York-The Praedium Group (Praedium), a New York City-based national real estate investment firm, has tapped Robert J. Murray as vice president to head acquisitions and investment management in the central U.S. region.
Prior to joining Praedium, Mr. Murray spent nine years in the real estate investment banking group at Salomon Smith Barney, most recently as a vice president.
During his tenure at Salomon Smith Barney, Mr. Murray conducted all aspects of real estate investment banking, including capital raising, portfolio transactions and strategic advisory for both public and private real estate companies.
Boston-Berkshire Mortgage Finance announced that Alan Reese has joined the company in the newly created role of executive vice president of corporate operations and chief financial officer.
Bringing over 20 years of industry knowledge to Berkshire, Mr. Reese's experience combines mortgage banking, consumer lending and securitization as well as corporate and operations management. Most recently, he was chief financial officer at Visible Markets Inc. and senior vice president and chief financial officer at Mortgage Lenders Network USA.
St. Louis-Jill Schwendemann has joined American Equity Mortgage as human resources administrator.
Ms. Schwendemann brings to American Equity Mortgage more than 23 years of experience in human resources management. Most recently, she was a human resources analyst for the Federal Reserve Bank of
St. Louis and also has held various human resources management positions with Osborn & Barr Advertising Agency, Edward Jones and Emerson Electric in St. Louis.
