First American Adds Vendor Platform for Default Services

First American Default Technologies has debuted its next-generation, case-management platform, VendorScape/CMS.

First American said its new VendorScape/CMS improves productivity for attorneys and mortgage servicers by streamlining case management functions through a proprietary workflow system.

This latest innovation from First American Default Technologies replaces existing systems by offering flexible integration with First American's iClear, First American's invoice management system. Through the interface with iClear, VendorScape/CMS creates a complete case management solution. It can also be integrated with attorney case- management systems.

"The power and speed of the Internet is truly accelerating our pace of innovation in developing enhanced systems," said Cindy Bird, president of First American Default Technologies. "With VendorScape/CMS, we've moved beyond today's world of case management into a maximum-efficiency, user-driven environment where attorneys and servicers can complete processes immediately."

Ms. Bird told MSN that First American is offering the new VendorScape as a "value add" rather than a new profit vehicle. As a result, she said the price that vendors such as attorneys pay for referrals generated by the system is considerably lower than that charged by competitors.

Users can set reporting parameters for viewing by task type, due date and processor. Users also have the freedom to filter case-related tracking events for viewing across a range of options, and can manage these events by assigning forecasted and actual completion dates. Full case details - including events, holds, reminders and quick reports - are easily viewed on demand. VendorScape/CMS also features increased messaging options and robust case detail enhancements, First American said.

Ms. Bird said VendorScape/CMS leverages technology First American had already been offering on the title side of its business. She said servicers and attorneys have expressed a desire to have one platform that can handle all their vendor case management needs.

She said the only technology requirement for users is that they have access to the Internet.

"We don't require any hardware. There is no set-up cost," Ms. Bird said.

She said VendorScape/CMS facilitates bundling of First American's default management products.

"We've got all these pieces and we are integrating all of these products, so it is really seamless for the servicers and the attorneys."
