MBA Hires New CRE Lobbyist
The Mortgage Bankers Association has appointed Josh Denney as director of government affairs and said he will be primarily responsible for lobbying Capitol Hill on commercial real estate issues.
Mr. Denney joins the MBA from the office of Sen. Chuck Hagel, R-Neb., where he was staff director for the Senate Banking Subcommittee on International Trade and Finance and legislative assistant for all issues before the Senate Banking Committee.
Prior to his tenure at Sen. Hagel's office, Mr. Denney was a senior account executive for Powell Tate/Weber Shandwick Public Affairs, where he managed several national media campaigns.
Jonathan Kempner, MBA president and chief executive officer, said Mr. Denney's experience working in Sen. Hagel's office "will prove to be an invaluable asset to our organization as we move forward with key commercial issues, especially working closely with Congress on re-authorizing the Terrorism Risk Insurance Act."
The MBA is a national trade association representing the real estate finance industry. Headquartered in Washington, D.C., the MBA represents more than 2,700 member firms involved in real esate finance.
Those members comprise more than 70% of hte single-family mortgage market and more than 40% of the commercial and multifamily market.
