Santa Ana-First American Title Insurance Co. said that Jessica S. Verduzco has joined the company as emerging markets director for the state of Texas.

Prior to joining First American, Ms. Verduzco spent a year as a management consultant and Houston sales manager with Gap International. Additionally, she spent four years as a contract specialist with NASA-Johnson Space Center in Houston.

Her background also includes positions as an account executive with Los Angeles-based Ad Americas.


Washington-The Mortgage Bankers Association has nominated Kieran P. Quinn, chairman and chief executive officer of Column Financial, a Credit Suisse company, as its vice chair-elect.

Mr. Quinn will be elected by MBA members at the association's 92nd annual convention, which will be held in October in Orlando, Fla. He has served on MBA's Commercial Real Estate/Multifamily Finance Board of Governors since 2000 and is COMBOG's current vice chair.

Mr. Quinn is serving his third term on the board of directors of MBA, is chair of MBA's audit committee, is vice chair of MBA's political action committee (MORPAC), and serves on the membership committee.

In his current role, he is responsible for managing Column Financial Inc., Column Canada and Column Guaranteed, its agency origination arm.


Jacksonville-Fidelity National Information Services said that James R. Follain has joined the company as senior vice president for mortgage valuation.

Mr. Follain brings nearly 30 years of experience in the areas of mortgage finance and analytics.

Most recently, he served as senior economist at the Federal Reserve Board, where he analyzed mortgage provisions of the Basel II Accord. Prior to that, he served as senior director of capital management and policy, single-family capital development with Freddie Mac.


Minneapolis-Robert P. Christman has joined Old Republic Title, Residential Information Services as national account executive.

Most recently, he held the position of regional sales manager for Fair Isaac.

Previously, he was director of U.S. operations for Leading Initiatives Worldwide, based in Sydney, Australia, where he continued to work with his prior employer, Alltel of Little Rock, Ark., on a client basis. At Alltel, he held the position of strategic sales manager and was responsible for new business development.


Edison-HanoverTrade Inc. said that Lisa Malie has joined the firm as a vice president in its technology division.

Prior to joining HanoverTrade, Ms. Malie was a senior vice president and business finance officer for the consumer real estate finance division of Bank of America.

Her prior positions include vice president of Washington Mutual Bank (formerly Homeside Lending Inc.) and assistant vice president for Alltel (now Fidelity Information Services).


Huntington-Advantage Title Agency Inc. has hired Carol Eilbott to become the company's first vice president of marketing.

Ms. Eilbott brings to Advantage over 20 years of advertising and marketing experience on both the agency and client sides of the business.

Most recently, she was vice president of branding strategy for Harrison Leifer DiMarco in Rockville Centre, N.Y., following a merger with Erin Edwards, Advantage's long-time agency of record.

Advantage Title Agency has also named Joseph Taylor as vice president of sales.

Mr. Taylor joins Advantage from EAM Land Services in Syosset, N.Y., where he created a successful track record of business development.

Previously, he was on the international sales team for Global Crossing Telecommunications.

New York-C-BASS said that Peter Cerwin has joined the firm as a managing director in the capital markets group.

Mr. Cerwin joins C-BASS after four years as a director in the securitized products group at Deutsche Bank Securities.

Prior to joining Deutsche Bank, Mr. Cerwin was at Prudential Securities covering subprime mortgage issuers. He spent 13 years at Merrill Lynch where he was involved in all aspects of the residential mortgage business including prime and subprime banking as well as MBS trading.

New York-Moody's Investors Service has added one person to its Servicing Ratings Group and named a new managing director.

William E. Fricke has joined the Servicer Ratings Group as a vice president/senior analyst. He was most recently employed by PHH Mortgage, formerly known as Cendant Mortgage, where he was a director of investor accounting and REO claims. He had been there since 2000.

Prior to PHH, Mr. Fricke spent seven years at Fannie Mae.

Moody's also said that Warren Kornfeld has been promoted to managing director from senior vice president. Mr. Kornfeld joined Moody's in 2001 as a senior analyst on the RMBS team responsible for rating a wide variety of residential mortgage securitizations.

Prior to joining Moody's, he worked for William Blair & Co.


Fayetteville-Hutchens, Senter & Britton, a foreclosure and civil litigation law firm in N. Carolina, said that Stephen C. Bailey has joined the firm as an associate.

Mr. Bailey's practice will be located in the firm's Wilmington, N.C., office where he will concentrate in real estate law, providing legal counsel to a wide range of clients.

He is a member of the North Carolina Bar Association, real property section.

Winston-Salem-Triad Guaranty Insurance Corp. has promoted Madeline Johnson-Oler to senior vice president. This is a new position for the company.

She has been at Triad since 2000, most recently as vice president, capital markets.

Prior to joining Triad, she was a senior consultant with Mortgage Dynamics Inc.

Ms. Johnson-Oler is the chairman and immediate past president of the Mortgage Bankers Assoc. of Metropolitan Washington.

The company has also hired Ralph DeFranco as vice president, risk management/product development. This is also a new position for the company.

He was previously with LoanPerfor-mance, San Francisco, most recently as product manager.
