FHFA to Delay Release of MI Capital Standards, USMI Says

The Federal Housing Finance Administration has advised private mortgage insurers that it will delay the release of revised capital standards, an industry trade group said Wednesday.

The US Mortgage Insurers said in a press release that the FHFA has notified the group it will not release its private mortgage insurer eligibility requirements until early next year.

The agency had previously planned to publish the requirements by the end of December.

"FHFA has advised USMI member companies that they have revised their timeline and do not expect to release final PMIERs until at least late in the first quarter of 2015," the association said in the release.

"USMI members remain united in support of the need to update the PMIERs."
