Home Prices Rose 1% from March to April: Black Knight

Home prices rose 1% from March and 4.9% year-over-year in April, according to Black Knight Financial Services.

National home prices have risen 3% since the start of 2015, and Black Knight's national Home Price Index is $248,000. It's still below its June 2006 peak of $268,000.

The Jacksonville, Fla., company's Home Price Index represents the price of nondistressed home sales, including as factors price discounts for other real estate owned and short sales.

In April, Washington state grew the fastest, with home prices rising 2% from March to April. Seattle had the fastest growth rate among the 40 largest metro areas at 2.2%.

Three metro areas each reported a 2% increase in home prices: Detroit; San Jose, Calif.; and Fort Collins, Colo.
