Mortgage Rates Remain Unchanged: Freddie Mac

Mortgage rates held steady for the week ending Sept. 4, according to data released Thursday by Freddie Mac.

"Mortgage rates were little changed amid a week of light economic reports," said Frank Nothaft, the government enterprise's chief economist, in a press release Thursday.

The average rate for 30-year fixed-rate mortgages was 4.1% - the same as last week, but 47 basis points lower than the same time last year.

Rates for 15-year fixed-rate mortgages fell by one basis point from the previous week, to 3.24%. The same rate was 3.59% a year ago.

Five-year treasury-indexed ARMs remained unchanged from last week, at 2.97%, while one-year ARMs increased by one basis point, to 2.4%.
