Auction.com named Executive Vice President Gordon Smith as general manager of its commercial real estate division.

Smith currently heads Auction Finance, the division that facilitates financing for commercial and residential real estate investors.

Prior to joining Auction.com, he was a managing director with Fortress Investment Group.

Prior to Fortress, Smith served as a director for the Global Principal Finance Group at Union Bank of Switzerland and as director at BlackRock Financial Management.

LenderLive Network Inc. said that Shana Lakso has joined the company as executive vice president of operations and client management for mortgage services.

Lakso has more than 20 years of experience in the mortgage industry and most recently served as senior vice president of client management and operations at Equator, a provider of default servicing technologies.

Previously, she served as the first vice president of financial operations at Financial Freedom and vice president of sales and operations at Option One Mortgage.

LenderLive Network also said that Joe Chappell has joined the firm as senior vice president of operations for its settlement services division.

In this position, Chappell will be responsible for vendor management, title, and escrow operations in the company’s Denver, Madison Heights, Mich., and Kansas City, Mo., locations.

Most recently, he was senior vice president, general manager of settlement services at Solutionstar where he was responsible for the integration and operations of the settlement services business unit after the acquisition of Equifax Settlement Services.

The Mortgage Bankers Association said that Fowler Williams, president of Crescent Mortgage Co. in Atlanta, has been appointed chairman of the Mortgage Action Alliance for the 2015-2016 political cycle.

Williams succeeds Amy Swaney who served as MAA chairman for the 2013-2014 election cycle.

In his 15 years with Crescent Mortgage, Williams has served as account executive, national sales manager, and executive vice president over sales and operations.

In 2011 he became president of Crescent Mortgage as well as a director on the company’s board.

LOUISIANA

BATON ROUGE

Assurance Financial Group said that Paul Peters has joined the retail mortgage bank as sales recruiting manager.

Peters brings to the company over 35 years of experience in the mortgage lending industry, having served in production, production management and executive management positions throughout his career.

He will specifically focus on recruiting loan originators and producing branch teams within the states of Louisiana, Arkansas, Texas, Mississippi, Tennessee, Alabama, Florida and Georgia.

Walker & Dunlop Inc. said that Thomas Toland joined the company as senior vice president of multifamily finance and will be based out of Walker & Dunlop's New York office.

Prior to joining Walker & Dunlop, Toland served as vice president at Berkadia where he financed $1 billion of commercial real estate debt and equity transactions and $750 million in Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae multifamily transactions.

Previously, he served as general counsel and one of the original shareholders during the foundation of Spring Bank in New York.

Greystone, a national provider of multifamily and health care mortgage loans, said that Ted Nasca has joined the company as a managing director.

Based in Chicago, Nasca will focus on establishing a stronger CMBS presence for Greystone in the central states through Texas.

He joins Greystone from Guggenheim Commercial Real Estate, where he was responsible for originating life company, CMBS and agency loans in the Central region.

Prior to Guggenheim, Nasca held roles at Cantor Fitzgerald and Credit Suisse, the latter at which he spent 10 years as a producer of CMBS loans.
