Ellie Mae said that Joe Tyrrell, the company's senior vice president of corporate strategy, has been appointed to the board of directors of the Mortgage Industry Standards Maintenance Organization.

He will serve a two-year term on the board, which represents a cross-section of the real estate finance industry and manages and directs MISMO's business and affairs.

MISMO is a not-for-profit subsidiary of the Mortgage Bankers Association that coordinates the development and maintenance of real estate finance data standards and electronic mortgage guidance through a voluntary, open and vendor-neutral process.

Tyrrell oversees a number of Ellie Mae's strategic initiatives, including the company’s business development and corporate development organizations.

He joined Ellie Mae in 2002 after serving in numerous executive positions, including a role as vice president for Providian Financial.

LenderLive Network Inc. named Mark Hughes president of its due diligence division.

Hughes joined LenderLive in April 2014, as senior vice president, to help grow its third-party review business and expand its offerings to investors, banks, mortgage companies and credit unions.

He joined LenderLive from CoreLogic and for five years headed that company's due diligence solutions group.

GREENWOOD VILLAGE

Blueberry Systems said that Geoff Bastow has joined the company as chief technology officer.

Bastow will spearhead software architecture, product development, as well as the integration of market needs, best practices and overall user experience.

He began his career in the financial services industry as a senior software engineer for Metavante (now FIS) in 1990 before leaving to launch Tushaus Computer Services.

Bastow also co-founded Doral Systems Corp., which became Doral USA.

DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA

WASHINGTON

The Federal Agricultural Mortgage Corp. said that Curt Covington will join the company as senior vice president, agricultural finance later this month.

In his new role, Covington will lead Farmer Mac's business development efforts in its Farm & Ranch and USDA Guarantees business segments, as well as oversee the company's overall credit administration and underwriting functions.

Before joining Farmer Mac, he served as managing director for the Ag and Rural Banking Division at San Francisco-based Bank of the West.

FLORIDA

FORT LAUDERDALE

Baker Donelson added Diana Matson to its financial institutions advocacy group.

Matson joins Baker Donelson as of counsel in the firm's Fort Lauderdale office where she represents major banks and residential mortgage servicing companies in all matters related to mortgage loans.

She is an experienced litigator with significant experience handling commercial and consumer financial services litigation that includes contested foreclosures, title defense, real estate litigation and appellate work.

LOUISIANA

NEW ORLEANS

Jones Walker said that Brian Lawlor, former New Orleans and New York housing official, joined the firm's affordable housing team as special counsel in the New York and New Orleans offices.

During Lawlor's tenure as the director of housing policy and community Development for the City of New Orleans, he was integral in returning the Housing Authority of New Orleans to local control and served as the mayor's primary liaison to the Department of Housing and Urban Development.

Lawlor also served as the commissioner for New York State Division of Housing and Community Renewal, the president and CEO of the New York State Housing Finance Agency and as the president and CEO of the State of New York Mortgage Agency.

Indecomm Global Services said that Linda Bomar has been appointed vice president of sales.

In this position, she will spearhead Indecomm's sales efforts in outsourcing, risk management, learning and software services to the mortgage industry.

Bomar was previously at AllRegs where she was responsible for marketing and managing sales to national accounts.

NEW YORK

Former United States Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Alphonso Jackson has joined First Data as a senior advisor.

In this role, Jackson's primary objectives will be to strengthen First Data's government relations and public policy initiatives, and advance the company's government business opportunities.

Prior to joining First Data, he was vice chairman of mortgage banking with JPMorgan Chase.

Before that, he served as the director of the Center for Public Policy and Leadership and as the Distinguished University Professor at Hampton University.

TEXAS

IRVING

Caliber Home Loans Inc. said that James Owen has joined the company as vice president, divisional builder manager of its national builder division for the Northeast, Midwest and Southeast divisions.

Prior to joining Caliber Home Loans, Owen served as the vice president, divisional builder manager for Bank of America.

In this role, he was responsible for developing homebuilder relationships throughout the Eastern United States.
