Consumers were more optimistic about their ability to buy a home in November compared to the previous month, according to data released Monday by Fannie Mae.
The government-sponsored enterprise's monthly housing survey showed that the percentage of consumers who say now is a good time to buy increased 3 percentage points, to 68%.
Conversely, the number of consumers who said that November was a good time to sell a home fell 5 percentage points, to 39%.
"November's National Housing Survey results support the 2014 trend of gradual, but often sporadic and unspectacular, improvement across a range of indicators measuring consumer attitudes toward housing — mirroring the uneven recovery in housing activity this year," said Doug Duncan, Fannie Mae's chief economist, in a press release.
They survey also showed that 44% of consumers expect home prices to appreciate in the coming year, while 6% of respondents expect prices to fall.
