Ellie Mae's Mortgage Automation Product Receives Patent

Ellie Mae in Pleasanton, Calif., has obtained a patent for its automated mortgage origination and processing software.

The patent applies to Ellie Mae's Encompass loan origination system, a form-based process that automatically generates and populates documents during a mortgage loan application.

The patent covers the Encompass interface for loan officers, processors and underwriters; contact management, marketing and qualification tools; workflow; and loan pipeline views.

The Encompass product moves the process to the cloud for "greater scalability, improved performance and productivity enhancements," Jonathan Corr, Ellie Mae's chief executive, said in a news release.
