FormFree Holdings, a mortgage technology vendor in Athens, Ga., has appointed John Sheppard, a former Coca-Cola International executive, to be its president and chief operating officer, a newly created position.

Sheppard will be responsible for overseeing FormFree's overall growth and development of its flagship service AccountChek, the company said in a press release Tuesday.

Sheppard has more than 25 years of experience "leading organizations during periods of high growth and expansion" in the tech and consumer goods industries, said Brent Chandler, founder and CEO of FormFree. Sheppard's experience in raising capital and integrating new business lines will contribute to FormFree's efforts to increase the market adoption of AccountChek, Chandler said. The service verifies a borrower's ability to pay back loans through instant digital bank statements from more than 15,000 financial institutions, allowing lenders to comply with new mortgage ability-to-pay requirements.

Prior to joining FormFree Sheppard led the expansion of several divisions of Coca-Cola's largest international business through more than $3 billion in acquisitions and joint ventures, and held top executive roles at EveryWare Global, Cott Corp., and Advent International, a $30-billion-asset global private equity firm.

FormFree has entered into several strategic agreements with lenders and other partners, such as Equifax, and is working with Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac "to ensure acceptance of its innovative market-leading technology," the company said.

FormFree was the recipient of Mortgage Technology magazine's 2013 Fix-It Award.
