Western States Lead National Home Price Increases: Black Knight

Home prices continued their upward climb, particularly in the Western part of the country, in April, according to the Home Price Index from Black Knight Financial Services.

Black Knight reported Monday that the Home Price Index for April came in at $260,000, which is a 1% jump from March and a 5.4% increase from 2015. Still, the index remained 2.9% off its 2006 peak.

Once again, Western states dominated the report's list of biggest movers. Washington posted the highest increase at 1.9%, followed by Oregon at 1.7%. Rounding out the top five are Utah, Idaho and Georgia, all at 1.5% growth.

At the metropolitan level, Seattle, Walla Walla, Wash., and Cheyenne, Wyo., tied for having the highest upticks, at 2%.
