Auction.com Appoints New Managing Director and SVP

The online real estate auction company and loan sales advisor Auction.com hired Elizabeth O'Brien as managing director and senior vice president to lead the company's expansion into the residential mortgage notes business.

O'Brien, who has 17 years of principal and client experience in the mortgage and real estate markets, most recently was the director in mortgage finance for Citi's fixed-income division. In this role, she managed various resecuritizations and liquidating trust transactions in excess of $10 billion. She also managed the legacy asset portfolio.

Before working at Citi, O'Brien was the chief administrative officer for Goldman Sachs' Whitehall Street real estate funds within the real estate principal investment area. She was also responsible for structuring investments in residential loans, hospitality and financial services companies.

O'Brien began her career as an attorney for New York-based Latham & Watkins.

“Beth's expertise enables us to build on the success of our residential foreclosures and commercial notes platforms and expand into residential notes,” said Jeff Frieden, CEO of Auction.com, Irvine, Calif. “Her track record in distressed mortgage finance makes her a driving force behind our ongoing growth as the world's preeminent real estate auctioneer.”

Since 2007, Auction.com has sold more than $12 billion in real estate assets at auction. Besides conducting auctions, the company provides residential loss mitigation and title agency and escrow closings.
