James (Chip) S. Mahan III is the Founder, CEO and Chairman of the Board for Live Oak Bank. As CEO, Mahan’s focus is building a best in class financial services company, with the needs of the customer at its core. Since launching Live Oak, the bank has won numerous awards for being a top place to work, which follows Mahan’s belief that if you take care your employees they will take care of the customer, leading to great returns for the shareholders. As Live Oak has grown it has remained a top performer for ROA and ROE ratings, with one of the strongest loan portfolios in the country. In 2010 Live Oak Bank created nCino a Software company based off of a the bank operating system Live Oak had developed on the�Force.com�platform. Today, nCino is one the fastest growing technology companies in North Carolina, and was recently named a Forbes “Most Promising Company”. Prior to Live Oak Bank, Mahan was the CEO and Chairman of the Board for S1 Corporation and Founder of Security First Network Bank, the world’s first Internet bank. Before founding Security First Network Bank and S1 Corporation, Mahan launched Cardinal Bancshares, where he served as Chairman and CEO. Mahan built Cardinal into an $800 million institution and took the company public in 1992.
