Churchill rolling out third-party consumer ed tools to LOs

Churchill Mortgage in Nashville, Tenn., is providing its loan officers with third-party technologies they can share with consumers to help would-be borrowers shop for homes and manage their budget.

In line with what it calls its "smarter mortgage" approach, among the types of automation Churchill is providing is Home Buyers Marketing II Inc.'s HomeScouting, a mobile app for home shopping that also provides connections to real estate agents.

Another mobile app called My Nest Mobile accommodates the sharing of information about homes. Churchill also is providing a monthly alert that can be used to compare home prices called Sold Home Alert.

A technology called Total Cost Analysis that helps loan officers break down loan options for borrowers is additionally available at Churchill. Its LOs also have access to Mortgage Coach, which analyzes loan options and distributes the results of the analysis to borrowers and real estate agents.

LOs receive training and a guide how the different consumer education resources can be used at origination and over time as borrowers manage their loan payments and budgets.

The approach is in line with the idea that the best way to sell a loan is to emphasize how borrowers can pay it off at the outset, in line with the industry adage, "No one wants to buy a loan. They want to buy a house."

"We want them [consumers] to ultimately be debt-free," said Matt Clarke, chief operating officer at Churchill.
