The Federal Housing Administration plans to sell 4,000 foreclosed homes on Feb. 27-28 in a special Internet auction, according to the Department of Housing and Urban Development.The properties will be listed on HUD's website on Feb. 15. The sale will be advertised in local newspapers, and the properties will be open for inspection. "HUD hopes this special effort will make more people aware of the opportunities that are available through our programs," FHA Commissioner John Weicher said. "This, in turn, will further our mission of increasing homeownership and expanding the supply of affordable housing." HUD is using its current management contractors for real estate owned to conduct the sale.
