Holliday Fenoglio Fowler has appointed Chris Collins as an associate director in its San Diego office.

Collins will focus on middle-market debt and equity placement transactions throughout the Western United States.

He has been with HFF since 2014 as a senior real estate analyst and has more than five years of experience in commercial real estate finance.

Prior thereto, Collins was a real estate analyst at La Jolla Capital, a boutique commercial real estate finance firm focused on middle-market apartment transactions.

Breckenridge Insurance Services said that insurance executive Thomas Elder has joined the company as senior vice president/senior broker.

Elder, who will be working out of the Baltimore area, is a 17-year veteran of the specialized residential and commercial property investor, real estate owned and lender-placed risk management industry.

Prior to Breckenridge, he led the REO/lender-placed insurance program at All Risks Ltd. as program manager.

Jorge Valencia has joined Academy Mortgage as regional manager for the Upper Midwest.

This is a new region for Academy Mortgage, in which Valencia will be responsible for directing sales, recruiting, personnel management, market expansion and business development.

His 30 years of professional experience includes senior roles at Cornerstone Mortgage, Wells Fargo, Bank of the West and U.S. Bank.

Valencia co-founded the Wells Fargo Housing Foundation and served as its president for five years. He has also been involved with HomeAid America and Rebuilding Our Communities.

REMN Wholesale has hired David Margulies in the role of director of national sales of financial institutions and strategic alliances.

He has more than 30 years of experience in the mortgage industry, much of which has been derived from working with credit unions and community banks.

Margulies, who will be based in REMN's Iselin headquarters, will work to strengthen its relationship with these financial institutions, along with building new alliances and expanding REMN's nationwide team of account executives.

PROVO

Simplifile has hired title and settlement industry veteran Toni Carroll as national settlement account manager.

Prior to joining Simplifile, Carroll was business development manager for First American Professional Real Estate Services.

Her other recent positions include state agency manager for the Southeast and mid-Atlantic divisions of North American Title Insurance Co. and vice president of sales for TSS Software Corp., which was acquired by First American Title Insurance Co. in 2013.
