Tradeweb: TBA MBS Trading Sets New Record

Secondary market platform Tradeweb on Thursday released numbers showing to-be-announced mortgage-backed securities trading reached a record high of $24 trillion in 2012.

Tradeweb also released numbers showing the range of price fluctuation during the year. It found prices for Fannie 3s fell as low as 98 10/32 at one point (March 19) and climbed above 106 at another (Sept. 26).

The company’s use of its round robin feature, which was designed to help market participants to avoid trade fails, exceeded $2 trillion in volume during 2012.
