Mortgage Rates Increase for First Time in Six Weeks

Mortgage rates in the U.S. rose, increasing home-loan costs for the first time in six weeks.

The average rate for a 30-year fixed mortgage was 4.14% this week, up from 4.12%, Freddie Mac said in a statement today.

The average 15-year rate climbed to 3.23% from 3.21%, according to the McLean, Va.-based mortgage-finance company.
