Do you have customers complete surveys? Do you get
The most powerful people on your marketing team are your past clients and real estate agents. Why? Because they tell everyone in the world how wonderful and great you are.
But my guess is, if you are just like me, I would put them in a drawer, and sometimes read them when I felt down and out or depressed. Sometimes I add them to my closed file, and then they were just like in closed heaven limbo forever. And, you may even post a few of them on your website or your Facebook page, hidden behind a testimonial bar.
Well, I have some ideas for you. Here are 10 ways that you can use testimonials and client surveys as a killer marketing tool.
1. Give it a different name. Instead of calling them “testimonials,” call it “What our customers say about us.”
2. Take a picture of the actual handwritten statement and post it on Facebook. It could be from a thank you note, from a client survey. Or, if you received flowers or a gift with a little handwritten note, especially a note card from a flower arrangement, take a picture of that along with the flowers, and post it on Facebook.
3. Create a specific tab on your Facebook page, and post all of your testimonials there also.
4. Add them to your website. As I mentioned above, change the words from “testimonials” to “What our clients say about us.”
5. Create a coffee table book for your lobby. People sitting around waiting for the appointment can thumb through the book and read the different things that people have said about you. Here’s what I did. I just got a regular old binder. The label on the front said, “What our customers think about us.” I added plastic sleeve binders, and actually put the original thank you notes in the sleeves. I also took pictures and created a book online using a company like Snapfish. So if you have a little brochure or something you want to send out, use the actual pictures instead of writing out, “What our customers say about us.”
6. Send a copy of the testimonials or the survey to your real estate agents involved in the loans—yes, both the listing and the selling agents—with a note that says, “I just wanted you to know what Mr. and Mrs. Jones thought about me.”
7. Put the testimonials, especially great ones, on the back of your business cards. Include them on your personal brochures. As I mentioned before, you may write them out, or they could be actual pictures of the handwritten notes or the surveys.
8. Get a video or an audio recording of a testimonial. Take your recording equipment to closing, Y'know what? Maybe one out of ten people will do it, but those that will agree will have a huge, huge impact, especially on the web, on YouTube, and on Facebook.
9. If you have a client who has given you a great testimonial or a great comment, send them an email reiterating what they said. So it would say something like this: “P.S. Thanks for the testimonial that you made about my services, when you said...” and then quote their exact words. This reinforces and jogs their memory, and is a record of what they said about your company.
10. When you get testimonials from real estate agents, use the nine steps above so other agents can read them too.
If you have any other ways to promote testimonials, please, I’d love to have you post them on
