Chase plans to hire anywhere from 500 to 1000 mortgage servicing employees once its new office space in Gahanna, Ohio is completed later this year.
If higher demand for mortgage loan servicing explains the new workforce additions, the main reason why these new hires are local residents, according to executives, is because the bank has had “excellent success” with Ohio workers.
The current Chase mortgage servicing staff focuses on assisting delinquent homeowners across the country. Local hires are part of the area’s relatively large pool of highly skilled workers with such skills.
The new staff will join the bank’s existing 17,000 employees in Central Ohio who serve Chase customers nationwide at Chase’s existing 495,000-square-foot facility in Easton, Ohio.
It is the most recent addition to the bank’s staff expansions of the past few years.
These hires and the new 123,000 square-foot lease office space indicate the staff growth mode may continue at least in the near future due to the high national delinquency rates.
Chase has already exceeded its mid-2009 goal to add 1,150 jobs in Central Ohio in Columbus and Westerville. Chase is now one of the largest employers in Ohio.
