Glen Corso, one of the founding executives at NMI Holdings Inc., has resigned as executive vice president and general counsel of the de novo private mortgage insurer.

Corso will leave the Emeryville, Calif., company on Feb. 28 "in order to pursue other opportunities," according to an 8-K filing. NMI has no other comments about the resignation, except for what is already in the one-paragraph filing, a spokeswoman says.

He was one of the former PMI Group executives, along with Bradley Shuster (now chairman, president and CEO), who started NMI in August 2012.

Corso served as group senior vice president of public policy for PMI's mortgage insurance subsidiary from 2006 to 2008. Prior to joining NMI, he co-founded and served as managing director for Mortgage Banking Initiatives Inc., a public policy group with a client base of independent mortgage banking companies from 2009 to 2012. Corso was also involved with the Warehouse Lending Project after he left PMI.

Christopher Brunetti, senior vice president and deputy general counsel, will be the acting general counsel at NMI while the company searches for Corso's replacement.
