Bank of America opened a customer assistance center last week in Warwick, R.I., to assist its struggling mortgage customers in this region.
The Charlotte, N.C.-based lender-servicer said there have been more than 3,800 permanent loan modifications in Rhode Island since 2008.
Borrowers will now be able to meet face-to-face with a B of A home retention specialist to review their options for a home loan modification or other alternatives to avoid foreclosure.
The Warwick customer assistance center team will follow each customer file through the entire loan modification process, make on-site decisions in many cases and assist with other available foreclosure prevention solutions if a modification is not possible.
“Face-to-face dialogue is an incredibly important element of homeowner assistance, which is why we have established a permanent presence for our Rhode Island customers,” said Rebecca Mairone, national mortgage outreach executive for Bank of America Home Loans.
An appointment is required in order for a borrower to meet with a home retention specialist during their business hours Monday through Saturday.
