Nominated and confirmed back in March 2002, he has accepted a position with The Resnick Group, a top 20 ranked national accounting, tax and business advisory firm based in Bethesda.

Donahue was one of three chairs along with the Attorney General and FBI Director to lead a Federal task force, 'Operation Stolen Dreams', to investigate and prosecute mortgage fraud. Their joint effort resulted in more than 1,500 arrests and more than $198 million in recoveries.

Prior to his time at HUD, Donahue had a 21-year career with the U.S. Secret Service as a special agent. In 1990, he was named assistant director of investigations for the Resolution Trust Corp. In 1997 he became a consultant in the private sector until the time he joined HUD.

In a statement the agency said he guided the HUD IG's office through "the most tumultuous years" of its history.  Early on, the HUD OIG was at the epicenter of the attack on the World Trade Center (WTC) on September 11th when the HUD OIG New York field office was destroyed.
