Loan Think

Tech Niches

This has been the most turbulent year in the history of mortgage lending for sure. Some have called this the biggest downturn since the Great Depression. However, in the midst of the doom and gloom, we at Mortgage Technology magazine still think there’s something to celebrate. We think you should be recognized.

Today innovative lenders and vendors are using technology to both survive and thrive. Each year our awards showcase various technologies in distinct categories that are helping the industry move forward. It is our goal to recognize the best and the brightest in the space. It is our belief that these technologies will not only help the industry recover, but help lift the overall quality of the mortgage process going forward.

And we’re not retrenching either. In fact, we’ll be expanding the competition this year to include 10 awards. Now is not the time to back-peddle, now is the time to move forward more aggressively then ever. We believe those that implement and use technology to fullest will be the ones that win at the other side of this downturn.

Does that describe you and what your company is doing? Do you qualify for one of our awards? Well, here are the categories:

10X AWARD: goes to a company, product or technology application having an exponential impact on mortgage lending.

FIX-IT AWARD: goes to a technology tool providing an effective solution for a particular industry problem, need or channel.

LASTING IMPACT AWARD: goes to an individual, group or company responsible for a technology initiative or development that has proven to have had a lasting impact on mortgage lending.

RELEASE OF THE YEAR AWARD: goes to the launch of a new technology product, platform, alliance or initiative that seems likely to have the broadest impact on mortgage lending going forward.

STEVE FRASER VISIONARY AWARD: goes to an outstanding mortgage technology innovator, visionary or evangelizer.

SYNERGY AWARD: goes to technology initiatives and alliances that show exemplary interoperability in a production setting to advance the cause of automation and e-commerce.

THE INNOVATIVE LENDER AWARD: goes to the lender that doesn't just use technology to follow the market, but to both innovate and lead the market of the future.

THE CUSTOMER-FOCUSED LENDER AWARD: goes to the lender that uses technology to provide a better, more transparent process for borrowers.

SERVICER OF THE YEAR AWARD: goes to the servicer that uses technology to ensure effective communications with borrowers, attorneys and lenders, and has enabled the optimal servicing of mortgage loans as a result.

THE GREEN ORIGINATOR AWARD: goes to the lender that has used technology to create a paperless origination process in an effort to further both business goals and help the environment.

Applications are accepted up until June 30 of this year. Each company or individual is allowed to apply in a maximum of two categories and there is a $300 processing fee per application. You can apply here.

Our panel of judges will review each application and notify the three finalists in each of the 10 categories the first week of July. From there we’ll ask the finalists to supply a 30-second, non-condensed QuickTime video with their final pitch on why they deserve this award.

Award winners will be named as part of a lavish awards ceremony to be held on October 11 in San Diego, California at the 96th Annual MBA Convention and Expo. To see who won last year go here. We also have a frequently asked questions page if this blog doesn’t answer all your questions here.

The Awards Ceremony is always a standout for the year. I’m proud to be involved with a publication that recognizes excellence in mortgage technology. You deserve this recognition. So, again, apply here. Hopefully I’ll see you in San Diego accepting your award and given an eloquent acceptance speech.
