Courson to Advise Treliant

Former Mortgage Bankers Association chief executive John Courson has joined Treliant Risk Advisors as a senior advisor, a press release from the company said.

Treliant is a consulting, compliance and strategic advisory firm which focuses on the financial services industry. The company's CEO, Andrew L. Sandler said Courson's background in the mortgage banking industry would allow it to provide its clients with guidance in a challenging regulatory environment.

Courson served as CEO of MBA from January of 2009 through March of this year.

Before that, Courson was the president and chief executive of Central Pacific Mortgage, Folsom, Calif.; it was while running this company he was chairman of MBA in 2003.

The next year, he was appointed to the California Housing Finance Agency, where he would serve as chairman from 2004 through 2008.
