Matt Morris is the new chief executive of Stewart Information Services Corp., Houston, while Edward Douglas Hodo is now the company's chairman.
Matt Morris replaces co-CEOs Malcolm Morris (who is his father) and Stewart Morris Jr. (who is his cousin). Malcolm Morris had also been chairman of the company. Both Malcolm Morris and Stewart Morris Jr. remain on the company's board as vice chairmen.
Most recently Matt Morris was senior executive vice president of Stewart Information Services Corp., and its subsidiaries Stewart Title Co., and Stewart Title Guaranty Co. He has been an executive of the company since 2004.
In that role, a spokesman said, he headed up Stewart's cost cutting program and ran all of the back office centralization which resulted in the company saving tens of millions of dollars during a rough environment for the title business.
Hodo had been lead director on Stewart's board prior to this announcement. He is president emeritus of Houston Baptist University.
