Correspondent Executive Korell Departs JPM’s Mortgage Unit

Industry veteran Mark Korell, who four years ago joined the mortgage division of JPMorgan Chase, has left the company, according to colleagues who are close to him.

Korell served as Western divisional manager in charge of correspondent lending at JPM and was based in Denver.

Korell could not be reached for comment and a spokeswoman for the company had no information on the matter.

Two years ago Chase exited the wholesale arena but remains as a correspondent lender.

During his long career in mortgages Korell was CEO of Norwest Mortgage, which eventually became Wells Fargo Home Mortgage.

Since leaving Norwest, Korell has held a variety of different positions at mortgage-related firms. In 2007 he was named president of mortgage banking for W.J. Bradley & Co. and began buying mortgage banking and brokerage firms.
