Pete Mills Departs Small Trade Group for MBA

The Mortgage Bankers Association said Monday that it has hired industry veteran Pete Mills as its new senior vice president of residential policy and member services, effective Oct. 1.

Mills joins the nation’s largest mortgage trade group from The Community Mortgage Banking Project, an advocacy group that lobbies for rules and regulations that help small- to medium-sized residential funders including both banks and nonbanks alike.

In a statement the MBA said Mills “will lead efforts to enhance MBA’s residential member engagement, retention and recruitment while adding additional strength” to the group’s policy team.

During his 25-year career, Mills has worked for Countrywide Financial Corp., the California Mortgage Bankers Association and the California Association of Realtors. He also conducted housing policy research with the Federal Reserve Board.
