Ares Commercial Real Estate Reports Higher 2Q Profit

Ares Commercial Real Estate reported a higher second-quarter profit on growth in principal lending and mortgage banking.

The Chicago company said net income rose 35% to $8.9 million, or 31 cents per share.

Ares reported net income in its principal lending business of $6.8 million. Mortgage banking was $2.2 million.

Total lending volume for principal lending was $60.5 million. That included new originations of $39 million in commitments. Mortgage banking's originations totaled $233 million in commitments.
