Bridget Clark, Founder of Homeowners Mortgage Enterprises, Dies at 54

Bridget Michelle Clark, the founder of Homeowners Mortgage Enterprises died on May 25 after a prolonged illness. She was 54 years old.

The Chicago native was only 21 years old when she started her own business, Homeowners Title Services. In November 1983, Clark incorporated the company as Homeowners Mortgage Enterprises. The company grew into a regional mortgage company and is now a wholly owned subsidiary of CoastalStates Bank.

Since its founding, Homeowners Mortgage Enterprises has grown into a lender operating in 18 states, with branches in three states that employee 120 people. It's originated more than $7 billion in residential mortgage loans to more than 50,000 homeowners.

Clark, of Hilton Head Island, S.C., is survived by her mother, siblings, her husband of 27 years, Douglas Clark, as well as her children and grandchildren.
