Home Prices See Slight Dip in September

Home prices experienced a 0.01% decline in September, though they are up 4.6% from the same time last year, according to the Black Knight Home Price Index.

Connecticut, Missouri and Vermont declined more than any other states, according to Black Knight, while Georgia, New York and South Carolina received the largest home price boosts.

The Jacksonville, Fla.-based company also reported that trends were weaker over the last three months than during the same period last year. Average home prices in 10 of the 20 largest states decreased in September.

Black Knight pulls its housing price index data from nondistressed sales and takes into account price discounts for foreclosure auction and short sales.
