Opus Bank said that Cathy Van Huisen has joined the company as managing director, income property banking.

Van Huisen, a 28-year multifamily and commercial real estate banking veteran, will be responsible for expanding the income property banking client base in the Los Angeles and Orange County markets of Southern California.

She joins Opus Bank most recently from HomeStreet Bank, where she served as vice president, relationship manager.

SAN DIEGO

The Mortgage Collaborative has promoted Rich Swerbinsky to the role of chief operating officer.

With more than 22 years spent in the mortgage finance sector, Swerbinsky previously worked as vice president of residential lending at Ohio-based First Federal Lakewood, where he oversaw the bank's residential lending division.

He also actively serves as a member of the Board of Trustees for the Ohio Mortgage Bankers Association.

SANTA ANA

Banc of California has hired Jason Pendergist as executive vice president and head of real estate banking.

Pendergist joins Banc of California from Luther Burbank Savings, where he most recently served as president for consumer and commercial banking.

He brings 17 years of experience in commercial and real estate banking, with particular knowledge of the Southern California markets.

FLORIDA

Digital Risk has named Brian Adams vice president of business development.

He brings to the firm over 18 years of sales and business development experience in the mortgage and financial services industries.

Adams previously served with Opus Capital, Charles Schwab, Ocwen Financial and FNC Inc.

KENTUCKY

People's United Bank has added Bob Smedley to its mortgage warehouse lending team.

Smedley is a seasoned relationship manager with over 30 years of banking and finance experience.

He will be based in the group's sales and operations office in Louisville.

MASSACHUSETTS

DANVERS

Mortgage Network Inc. said that Christopher Cowher has joined the company as a senior loan officer serving the Winchester and Lexington, Mass., regions.

Cowher brings over 25 years of experience to Mortgage Network in the areas of condo, multifamily, jumbo, VA and FHA loans.

Most recently, he was a loan officer for Fairway Independent Mortgage Corp.

NEW JERSEY

EWING

Cenlar FSB, a federally chartered savings bank specializing in mortgage subservicing, has appointed Rob Lux to the position of executive vice president and chief information officer.

Lux will assume responsibility for providing overall technology strategy and oversight of Cenlar's information systems to all areas of the company with regard to new and existing technology.

Before joining Cenlar, he worked at Freddie Mac as an EVP, chief information officer, where he managed all IT systems.
